CADILLAC RACINGCADILLAC RACING

Where do you go when you've proven you can build one of the world's most acclaimed production cars, the 556 horsepower Cadillac CTS-V? To the racetrack, to make it even better. This season, Cadillac joins North America’s top production-based race series, the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge. Our competitors are going to get very used to watching these taillights.

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Coupe Black Diamond Package

BLACK DIAMOND EDITIONBLACK DIAMOND EDITION

The CTS-V Black Diamond Edition adds a new dimension of brilliance to Cadillac’s award-winning V-Series. The exclusive Black Diamond tri-coat paint is the first in North America to incorporate SpectraFlair® bright silver in one of the three layers in the meticulous tri-coating process. The result is a paint that has a diamond-like sparkle as light hits the surface from different angles for added depth and richness—befitting Cadillac. Along with the unique Black Diamond paint, additional features include:
  • Satin Graphite 19" wheels with yellow Brembo® brake calipers for a race car appearance
  • 14-way power-adjustable RECARO® performance seats with microfiber suede inserts that keep you firmly planted during performance driving
  • Exquisite Midnight Sapele wood trim that adds a warm sophistication to the technologically-advanced cockpit.
These are but a few reasons to really begin to recognize the "fevor" Cadillac has injected into the luxury car market.

Of course, there are many luxury "performance" vehicles from which to choose. But the Cadillac has set a new standard of performance. cadillac.com

Antron Brown raced to his third Lucas Oil Raceway win Monday when the action came to an end at the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil.

Brown became the first driver to win the historic event in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle when he powered his Matco Tools dragster to a 3.813-second run at 321.73 mph. The final-round performance was enough to get past Del Worsham and secure his fifth win of the season and 30th of his career.

Antron Brown

Words cannot describe how this feels,” said Brown. “To come here and win at Indy, the biggest stage in drag racing, means so much. It just goes back to my childhood dream and sitting under those grandstands as a kid and saying ‘I want to do that one day.’ It’s the greatest feeling I’ve ever had.” www.nhra.com

It is not often the representative for the fastest sport in the world can bring together every segment of the varied demographics across the nation; but Antron has done just that.....again.

It will not be stated in any of the "camps", but when the switch was made from Pro Stock Bike to Top Fuel, many felt he was stepping into a field of "hell", however being able to bring excitement into what was a somewhat mundane catagory is what the NHRA needed.

Even though NHRA has the most diverse group of competitors in motorsports, Antron has eliminated the void in the vast number of classes.

Of course, it does help to bring and satisfy the sponsors.

Its too bad we can't get the same visibility for the Sportsman Classes.  A lot of viewers would be surprised as to "who" the competitors are.

Indy Finals Today!

[11 a.m.] Both Terry McMillen (above) and Bob Vandergriff Jr. (below) scored crucial first-round wins in Top Fuel to keep alive their hopes of making the Coutndown playoffs. With 10th-place Dave Grubnic's loss in the same round, either or both could now pass Grubnic with a win next round. If both win in round two, they'll face off in the semifinals for a winner-take-all race. Second-round pairing (lane choice first): Antron Brown vs, Doug Kalitta; Larry Dixon vs. Spencer Massey; Del Worsham vs. Terry McMillen; and Brandon Bernstein vs. Vandergriff.

GM Must Fail to Survive

General Motors CEO Dan Akerson Is Not a Car Guy

The new boss of GM has no auto industry experience and a knack for telling employees what they don’t want to hear. Does that make him the right leader to save the carmaker?

Daniel F. Akerson, the chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors (GM), gave a speech to about 400 engineers and designers at the company’s technical center north of Detroit. It was a boilerplate, morale-boosting speech, generous with exhortations about work ethics and staying vigilant. Then came the Q&A session. One employee wanted to know: What kind of hours did Akerson expect them to put in at the office? Akerson answered with a family parable. He told the crowd he’d called his son’s office at 6:30 that morning and found him at his desk. Akerson informed his son, who does not work at GM, that he would call again in 12 hours and that he expected him to still be at work. The moral, as if anyone in the room needed an explanation: “Generous Motors” is gone, so get busy. Next question.

45 Years of Camaro!

The 45th Anniversary Special Edition commemorates both Camaro's lineage and its 21st-century revival. The anniversary package will be offered on Camaro's top two trim levels (2LT and 2SS) for both coupe and convertible body styles. The exterior signature of the 45th Anniversary Special Edition is its unique rally stripe, in red and silver, that contrasts the Carbon Flash Metallic paint.

Of course, with this being the second year of the design, we just might see a few more Camaro's in the Pro Stock lanes of NHRA in February 2012.

Green Car Performance

While Ford vehicles are designed and engineered for great fuel economy, we haven't forgotten about performance. In fact, the 2012 Ford Mustang is the most fuel-efficient sports car, delivering an EPA-estimated 19 city/31 hwy mpg.

Having been so involved with Ford Dealers for a number of years, my initial research seems to be concentrated on what is on the road as well as what in in the pipe-line.
